Terms and conditions
Effective . In short: this is a free reference, it is not advice, it is my own work, and what you do at the bench is your responsibility.
Using this site
Wood Joint Explorer is a free reference that I publish under the site's name; I'm an individual based in India. You may read it, link to any page, print any page and use what you learn in your own work, paid or unpaid, without asking. By using the site you accept these terms; if you don't, please stop using it. I may change, pause or close the site at any time without notice.
Reference, not advice
Everything here describes how a joint is laid out, cut and put together, as geometry. I'm a software developer, not a woodworker, and nothing on this site is structural, engineering or safety advice. I don't publish strength figures or rankings, on purpose; the methodology page explains why. Woodworking uses sharp tools and machines that can hurt you. How you work is your responsibility, and nothing here replaces your tool manuals, your training or your own judgement.
Accuracy and corrections
The models pass the checks described on the methodology page, and the text is written from the geometry and from named sources. I take that seriously, but it isn't a guarantee: conventions differ between trades and countries, sources disagree, and a model can be right while a sentence about it is wrong. If you find an error, the contact page says how to tell me. I fix errors with a dated line in the revision history of the page they change.
Copyright and reuse
The text, parametric models, drawings, stills and diagrams on this site are my original work. Copyright © 2026 Wood Joint Explorer, all rights reserved except as granted here. You may link to any page and quote short passages with a link back. You may not republish the stills, drawings, models or text, in whole or in substantial part, on another site or in another product, or download them in bulk, without my written permission (support@woodjointexplorer.com). The name Wood Joint Explorer and its corner-lap mark identify this site. Sources cited on each page belong to their own authors and publishers; Fairham's Woodwork Joints is in the public domain.
Links to other sites
Pages link to their sources and to other sites where you might want to check something. I don't control those sites and I'm not responsible for their content or for how they handle your data. A link is not an endorsement.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from use of the site or reliance on anything in it, including spoiled stock, a failed joint, a damaged tool or an injury at the bench. Where a liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the extent the law permits. Nothing here removes consumer rights that cannot be waived by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere, this does not take away protections that the mandatory consumer law of your own country gives you.
Changes to these terms
Changes are dated below. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the changed terms.
